To Be Discovered

odacava_BackCountrySkiingI ran into an acquaintance I hadn’t seen in a long time over the weekend. He had lost a lot of weight; he didn’t even look like him. He looked happy and at much more healthy than I had known him to be. I asked him what he’s been up to and what his secret was. He said he lives by the theory that if money wasn’t an issue, what would he do? So he does what he loves everyday, his passion is designing and he does it everyday in a place where he can look out the windows.

If money wasn’t an issue, what would I do everyday?

I would learn about architecture, host fun parties, make amazing feasts for my friends and family, I would do something outside everyday, whether it be hiking, snowboarding, kayaking, back country skiing and the list goes on of what I love to do outside.

Have you asked yourself this question before? Is there anyway you could make this a reality for your everyday life? If so, how? What do your answers tell you about yourself?
What does my answer tell me about myself? How can I make this happen? To be discovered ;)

Cheers,

Krista

    It was back in the 70s when I was a kid and they did this aptitude questionnaires on all the kids in the school. Think I was grade 8 so that would have been 14 years old in 1977 – anyway, they also asked us what we would want to do if money was not even taken into consideration. Can’t remember what I said, but I know the test told me I would like being a priest – really weird.

    I think if we add more to it like;

    1) make sure you do something that rewards you
    2) make sure you do something that helps others, even if indirectly (like blogging)
    3) make sure you do something that you enjoy very much

    I think if we stick to these 3 principals, money will naturally become a bi-product of the passionate work – no matter WHAT it is.

    Why? Because if you do something that you love and are passionate about that helps people, you will be good at it, and someone will start paying you to continue helping others. Maybe the Government or private corp. will pay to continue the activity, or maybe you will have people personally paying you to perform your special service.

    Have to take a risk though to make your “quest of passion” profitable. It’s obviously worth the risk, and IF YOU LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND IT HELPS PEOPLE it’s never a risk – just a matter of time before the money flows from the activity.

    Good post Krista.
